Where can BOTOX be used?

BOTOX is used for many areas, both facial and non-facial. We use it on forehead wrinkles, on the chin area, on around-the-lip wrinkles, and on neck bands. It is also approved for many medical uses outside of cosmetics. It is a very versatile and safe drug, having already been used in over a million patients and for more than 30 years.

What exactly is BOTOX and how does it work? How long does it last?

BOTOX is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. Once injected, it invades the surrounding muscle tissue and blocks the chemicals that cause that muscle to contract. It thereby relaxes the muscle, causing the overlying skin to loosen and erase wrinkle lines.

How is BOTOX administered?

It is administered in a simple, usually less than 10 minute, non-surgical procedure that consists of one or multiple small injections. The injections are virtually painless using needles smaller than those you are used to seeing at your typical doctor’s office.

When can I expect to see results, and how long will it last?

Visible improvement is not immediate, but is seen progressively throughout the first week. Most of Dr. Bouyarden’s clients see significant improvement within the first few days. The results last up to 6 months.

Will I still be able to smile or frown?

BOTOX, when administered correctly by a trained professional such as Dr. Bouyarden, won’t affect your ability to laugh, smile, or express yourself. Most clients resume normal activity immediately after the procedure.

Dermal fillers are compounds such as Restalyne or Perlane that can be safely injected below the surface to raise the level of the skin. This can work to eliminate wrinkles, raise scar depressions, enhance lips, and replace soft tissue volume loss.
It is important to note that the skill level of the injector directly affects the result seen with dermal fillers.

What can I do to improve wrinkles around the eyes, such as "crow's feet"?

Is it better to do something permanent versus BOTOX?

While permanent is nice, Dr. Bouyarden has had patients who have undergone eyelid procedures and still love what  Botox can do. While a nip and tuck here and there can help in many people (especially for eyelids that are drooping), Botox has a unique effect and improves crow's feet as well as the shape of the eye.
Additionally, it doesn't carry the risks that surgery can have. The main risks of Botox are temporary drooping of the eyelid (rare) and bruising. The nicest thing is that it is temporary, so if you don't like the results, it will go back to "normal" after about three or four months.

What about Sclerotherapy?

This the most common procedure and has been used to treat spider veins for 150 years. It is a procedure done is an office setting where a chemical is injected in the capillaries in question causing them to shrink.  There are different types of agents used by various doctors depending on expertise in the field. In our office, we use the agent with virtually no allergic reaction to date.

What is Mesotherapy and what is it used to treat?

Mesotherapy is a medical treatment for spot fat reduction and cellulite treatment. It has been used in France for over 50 years mainly to help rid the body of fat and cellulite without undergoing surgery. It is used for cosmetic purposes, such as reducing cellulite and fat, hair restoration, and diminishing puffy eyes.
Mesotherapy may be an alternative to liposuction for some patients since it is a non-surgical technique for spot weight reduction, sagging chins and eyelids, and for eliminating cellulite from heavy thighs, abdomen, hips and buttocks.

Smart lipo?

Smart lipo is a new method for removing unwanted body fat through a low-pain, highly efficient process. It utilizes smaller instruments and specialized technology to zap fat cells for contouring and reshaping areas of the body including the abdomen, love handles, backs, thighs, hips, knees, arms, neck, and chin.
Through a special laser similar to that used in cataract surgery, fat cells are targeted and the sound energy dissolves the cells on contact. A gentle suction then massages the dissolved fat out of the body. Only a small percentage is retained, the rest is absorbed into the body, and excreted as waste within 24 hours.

Lipodissolve?

Lipodissolve is a non surgical medical procedure that involves the injection of a compound called phosphatidylcholine into small localized fat deposits to dissolve fat. Phosphatidylcoline (PPC) is a naturally occuring enzyme and is the main component of soy lecithin. Lecithin has been medically proven to have the ability to break down fat and reduce cholesterol.
The compound is delivered directly into the subcutaneous fat through multiple microinjections administered over one to three treatments spaced about six weeks apart.
The treatment is meant to remove fat and shrink fat cells. The fat is then eliminated from the body through normal waste removal. The desired end result is precise body contouring in localized areas.

Velasmooth?

Velasmooth is an effective and revolutionary cellulite reduction treatment combining vacuum suction, rollers, and ELOS heating through Infrared Light and Bi-Polar Radio Frequencies.
During VelaSmooth treatments, infrared light is used to heat the target area and increase the elasticity of the skin. Then, conducted Radio Frequency penetrates to heat the fat cells below the surface of the skin. This heat also promotes better circulation to the local area, allowing more oxygen exchange for increased fat cell metabolism. The final step involves smoothing the surface of the skin by combining a vacuum action with a deep tissue massage. The combined heat energy of the Velasmooth system goes deep to mobilize fat, and also stimulates the formation of new collagen. The result is smoother skin.

Ultrashape?

UltraShape is a clinically proven, non-surgical, body contouring treatment designed to eliminate undesirable excess fat using non-thermal, selective, focused ultrasound energy to remove unwanted fat deposits and redefine your body shape without surgery, incisions, needles or anesthesia.
Ultrasound waves selectively target and eliminate excess fat cells without affecting the surrounding skin tissue, nerves or blood vessels and without risk of infection or bruising.
